Nei Gong – Inner Work

What is Nei Gong?

Nei Gong is a traditional Daoist system of transformative energy work. People are drawn towards this practice for a variety of reasons. For some, it is the elevation of their health that makes Nei Gong interesting; for others, the path of self-cultivation and ultimately spiritual development is their goal. Training in Nei Gong involves using a variety of methods such as stretching and conditioning bodywork, regulation on the breath and mind, Qi Gong, Dao Yin (guiding and leading), standing and sitting work, alongside the learning of Daoist theory.

Who is it for?

The study of Nei Gong is a longer and more complex path than most health Qi Gong classes.

If you are someone searching for a process that facilitates transformation of the mind and body through bodywork and energy techniques, then maybe Nei Gong will be what you are looking for.

The classical discipline of internal transformation and self-cultivation is best suited to those with a basic level of good health to begin with. Nei Gong is also not recommended for certain people – click here to check whether Nei Gong is suitable for you. What is Nei Gong training like?

Effective Nei Gong training should be a combination of focused, intensive and, at times, demanding practice within a safe, fun and good humoured environment. Laughter is a positive facilitator of change. Undertaking a traditional practice such as this can be challenging, as working at the edge of our discomfort is the place where real change, both physically and emotionally, occurs. It is, however, an immensely rewarding and positive process.
