Nei Gong

What is Nei Gong?

Nei Gong is a traditional Daoist system of transformative energy work developed and practiced in China for over a thousand years. People are drawn towards this practice for a variety of reasons. For some, it is the elevation of their health that makes Nei Gong interesting; for others, the path of self-cultivation and ultimately spiritual development is their goal.

The key difference between Nei Gong and most other forms of exercise is the intimate connection created between the mind, breath and body during practice. Refining our posture, alignments and breathing allows the practitioner to improve the efficiency of their own energetic body, benefiting their health and creating a deeper internal awareness so often missing in our busy daily lives.

Training in Nei Gong involves using a variety of methods such as opening the body through stretching, Standing practices, Qi Gong, Dan Tien Gong, Breathwork and Dao Yin (guiding and leading), alongside the learning of Daoist Nei Gong theory. Click here to see more details.

Who is it for?

If you are someone searching for a process that facilitates transformation of the mind and body through bodywork and energy techniques, then maybe Nei Gong will be what you are looking for.

The classical discipline of internal transformation and self-cultivation is best suited to those with a basic level of good health to begin with. Nei Gong is also not recommended for certain people – click here to check whether Nei Gong is suitable for you. If you are unsure about whether you are able to begin training, please get in touch for more guidance.

What is Nei Gong training like?

Effective Nei Gong training should be a combination of focused practice in a fun and good humoured environment. Laughter is a positive facilitator of change. Undertaking a traditional practice such as this can be challenging, as working at the edge of our discomfort is the place where real change, both physically and emotionally, occurs. It is, however, an immensely rewarding and positive process.
